The MMO Hammer covers online worlds: which MMORPGs are worth your time, launch guides for new releases, and player-count pages built from public Steam data. This page explains how that coverage is produced so you can decide how much to trust it.
Who runs the site
A small editorial team runs The MMO Hammer. The team chooses the topics, sets the standards on this page and maintains the site. We do not list named staff, and we make no claims about credentials or history that we cannot show you.
How articles are written
Every article starts from published sources. These include official announcements, patch notes, developer documentation, public data and records.
Nobody on the team tests, plays, buys or uses the games or products we cover. When an article says an MMO is worth playing, that judgement rests on what developers have published, what the data shows and what is on the record. It does not come from hours spent in the game, and we do not write as if it did.
How facts are checked
Before an article is published, its facts are checked against the sources it lists. Anything we cannot confirm is corrected, labelled as unconfirmed or removed.
Each article ends with its list of sources and shows when it was published and when it was last updated. You can see what we relied on and how current it is.
Player counts
Player-count pages use Steam’s public concurrent-player data. Each page is labelled with what Steam counts and what it misses. Players on other launchers or on consoles do not show up in Steam’s figures, so a game’s total population can be higher than the number on the page. Our How we measure page explains the method in full.
Sponsorship and mistakes
We do not publish sponsored articles.
If you spot an error, tell us. When we confirm a mistake, we correct the article and change its last-updated date.
